How to edit a Career

View an existing Career, change the role details, and save the Career.

A Career is an open role. You can change the title, description, pay, offices, and other details after you create it.

Before you start

  • You must be signed in.
  • These roles can edit a Career: owner, administrator, hiring manager, and Office Administrator.
  • If you are a hiring manager, you can edit a Career when you are the hiring manager for that Career.
  • If you are an Office Administrator, you can edit a Career when it includes an office that you administer. You must keep at least one office that you administer. If you do not, the form shows: Select at least one office you administer.
  • The Career must not be archived.

View Careers

  1. Open Hire, then open Careers.

  1. Select the Career title. This example uses Store Associate.

  1. Confirm that the page shows the Career. The first tab is Details.

Edit

  1. Select Actions.
  2. Select Edit open role.

You can also open Edit from the Careers list. Open the row menu, then select Edit.

The page title is Edit open role. The form has the same sections as create: Basic Information, Work arrangement, Compensation, and Office & team.

Career details

Change only the fields that you need. Leave the other fields as they are.

Basic Information

  1. In Title, type the name of the role. The title can have up to 255 characters.
  2. In Description, write the role, the work, and the requirements. You can type the text, or you can generate a draft.
  3. Select Generate job description after you enter a title if you want a new draft. You can edit the draft before you save.
  4. In Hiring manager, select the person who owns the role. Select No hiring manager if you do not want to assign one. See How to set a hiring manager.

Work arrangement

Select every option that applies. You can select more than one value in each group.

Work arrangement: Remote, In person, Hybrid.

Employment type: Full-time, Part-time, Contract.

Typical schedule is optional: Flexible scheduling, Holidays, Weekdays, Weekends.

Compensation

  1. In Pay structure, select how you pay for the role.
  2. If you disclose pay, select a Compensation period.
  3. Choose How should compensation be shown? Select Minimum and maximum or Custom description.

To hide pay on the public listing, select Not disclosed.

Office & team

  1. In Offices, select every location for the role. See How to set offices on a Career.
  2. In Team, select the team, or keep None.

Application questions

The edit form also includes Application questions.

  • If no one has applied, you can add, change, or remove questions.
  • After people apply, the page shows Application questions are locked. You cannot change or remove those questions.
  • You can still change the title, description, pay, and offices.

From Actions, you can select Application questions to open that section.

Save

  1. Select Save changes.
  2. Select Cancel if you want to return to the Career without saving.

After you finish

A success message shows: Career updated successfully.

You see the Career. The Last updated time in Quick details changes.
