How to create a Session

Create a recurring one-on-one Session with a direct report.

A Session is a recurring one-on-one. You use it to meet with one direct report. Plural creates each occurrence on the schedule you set.

Before you start

  • You must be signed in.
  • These roles can create a Session: owner and administrator.
  • Employees can open a Session and prepare. Employees cannot create a Session.
  • Your account must be linked to a person profile. If it is not, the form shows: Your account is not linked to a person profile. Select Set up your profile in People.
  • You must have at least one direct report. If you do not, the form shows: You don’t have any direct reports. Select Set up direct reports in People.
  • The system writes a Session name from the two people. You can change the name before you save.

View Sessions

  1. Open Retain, then open Sessions.
  1. Select Create Session.

Session details

The dialog title is Create recurring session.

  1. In Direct report, select the person. This example uses Jordan Hale. Sessions are one-on-one. You can select only one person.
  2. In Session name, keep the name or type a new one. This example uses Jordan Hale <> Alex Rivera Check-in. The name can have up to 255 characters.
  3. In Frequency, select how often the Session repeats.
    • Weekly
    • Every 2 weeks
    • Monthly
  4. In Days of the week, select each day that applies. The labels are Su, Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, and Sa. The default is Monday through Friday. You must select at least one day. If you do not, the form shows: Select at least one day.
  5. In Time, select the start time.
  6. In Start date, select the first day, or leave the field empty to start now. When a first date is known, the form shows First occurrence with that date.
  7. In Timezone, select the timezone for the Session.
  8. Select Create session. Select Cancel to close the dialog.

If the form is not complete, these messages can appear:

  • Session name is required
  • Select a direct report
  • Select a time
  • Select a timezone

After you finish

You see the Sessions page. A success message shows: Session created.

The Session is in the list. Plural creates occurrences from the schedule.
